It Came Upon the Midnight Clear - Classical Artists[00:00:00]
Written by:John Goss[00:00:00]
It came upon the midnight clear[00:00:00]
That glorious song of old[00:00:05]
From angels bending near the earth[00:00:09]
To touch their harps of gold[00:00:14]
Peace on the earth good will to men[00:00:20]
From heaven's all gracious King[00:00:24]
The world in solemn stillness lay[00:00:29]
To hear the angels sing[00:00:34]
Still through the cloven skies they come[00:00:41]
With peaceful wings unfurl'd[00:00:46]
And still their heavenly music floats[00:00:50]
Over all the weary world[00:00:56]
Above it's sad and lowly plains[00:01:01]
They bend on hovering wing[00:01:06]
And ever over it's babel sounds[00:01:10]
The blessed angels sing[00:01:16]
Yet with the woes of sin and strife[00:01:23]
The world has suffered long[00:01:28]
Beneath the angel strain have rolled[00:01:33]
Two thousand years of wrong[00:01:38]
And man at war with man hears not[00:01:43]
The love song which they bring[00:01:48]
O hush the noise ye men of strife[00:01:53]
And hear the angels sing[00:01:58]
For lo the days are hastening on[00:02:06]
By prophets seen of old[00:02:10]
When with the ever circling years[00:02:15]
Comes round the age of gold[00:02:19]
When peace shall over all the earth[00:02:24]
It's ancient splendors fling[00:02:29]
And the whole world give back the song[00:02:34]
Which now the angels sing[00:02:39]
