The Night Before Christmas (In Texas That Is) - Gene Autry[00:00:00]
'Twas the night before Christmas in Texas you know[00:00:05]
Way out on the prairie without any snow[00:00:10]
Asleep in their cabin were Buddy and Sue[00:00:15]
A dreamin' of Christmas like me and you[00:00:19]
Not stockin's but boots at the foot of their bed[00:00:24]
For this was in Texas what more need be said[00:00:29]
When all of a sudden from out of the still night[00:00:34]
There came such a ruckus it gave me a fright[00:00:39]
And I saw 'cross the prairie like a shot from a gun[00:00:49]
A loaded up buckboard come out at a run[00:00:54]
The driver was "Geein" and "Hawin" with will[00:00:59]
The horses not reindeer he drove with such skill[00:01:03]
"Come on Buck Poncho and Prince to the right[00:01:08]
There'll be plenty travelin' for you all tonight"[00:01:13]
The driver in Levis and a shirt that was red[00:01:18]
Had a ten-gallon Stetson on top of his head[00:01:23]
As he stepped from his buckboard[00:01:33]
He was really a sight[00:01:35]
A beard and moustache so curly and white[00:01:38]
As he burst in the cabin the children awoke[00:01:42]
And were so astonished that neither one spoke[00:01:47]
And he filled up their boots with such presents galore[00:01:52]
That neither could think of a single thing more[00:01:57]
When Buddy recovered the use of his jaws[00:02:02]
He asked in a whisper "Are you Santa Claus "[00:02:07]
"Am I the real Santa Well what do you think "[00:02:11]
And he smiled as he gave a mysterious wink[00:02:16]
Then he leaped in the buckboard and set him his drawl[00:02:21]
To the children of Texas Merry Christmas you all[00:02:26]
