Good morning, everyone. [00:00:00]

And welcome to the English for Academic Purposes Centre. [00:00:01]

I 'd like to begin by briefly introducing the services [00:00:05]

we offer here at our centre. [00:00:09]

First of all, we have a wide range of language courses. [00:00:11]

In the first semester, we run an eight week Conversation Class [00:00:15]

for students of non English - speaking backgrounds, [00:00:19]

who wish to improve their fluency, grammar and pronunciation [00:00:23]

in English. [00:00:27]

The course is held on Tuesdays between 12:30 and 1:30. [00:00:29]

So, that's one hour once a week. [00:00:34]

Please enroll with the secretary before Friday this week. [00:00:37]

For those of you who are interested in developing your [00:00:41]

writing skills, [00:00:44]

we have a six week course which runs for two hours between [00:00:46]

4 and 6 on Wednesday afternoons, [00:00:49]

beginning in Week One. [00:00:52]

It concentrates on the writing skills needed for assignments [00:00:54]

in the Departments of Economics and Social Sciences. [00:00:58]

Students must be enrolled in either of these departments. [00:01:02]

You 're probably not thinking about taking examinations yet, [00:01:07]

but later on, towards the end of the term, [00:01:11]

you might like to enroll in our Examination Skills class. [00:01:13]

The course runs for five weeks and two hours in a week. [00:01:18]

The course deals with the skills you need in both written tests [00:01:22]

and oral examination. [00:01:26]

It is not necessary to enroll before the course starts. [00:01:29]

Just turn up for the first class. [00:01:33]
