I was a PFC on a search patrol huntin' Charlie down[00:00:47]

It was in the jungle wars of '65[00:00:52]

My weapon jammed and I got stuck way out and all alone[00:00:57]

And I could hear the enemy movin' in close outside[00:01:02]

Just then I heard a twig snap and I grabbed my empty gun[00:01:07]

And I dug in scared while I counted down my fate[00:01:11]

And then a big marine a giant with a pair of friendly eyes[00:01:16]

Appeared there at my shoulder and said wait[00:01:21]

When he came in close beside me he said[00:01:26]

Don't worry son I'm here[00:01:28]

If Charlie wants to tangle now he'll have two to dodge[00:01:31]

I said[00:01:35]

Well thanks a lot[00:01:36]

I told him my name and asked him his[00:01:37]

And he said[00:01:40]

The boys just call me Camouflage[00:01:41]

As if he wasn't there[00:02:50]

And in the mornin' we both took a chance and ran[00:02:52]

And it was near the river bank when the ambush came on top of us[00:02:56]

And I'd thought it was the end and we were had[00:03:01]

Then a bullet with my name on it came buzzin' through a bush[00:03:06]

And that big marine he just swatted it with his hand[00:03:11]

This was an awfully strange Marine[00:03:35]

And I knew there was something weird about him[00:03:49]

Cause when I turned around he was pullin' a big palm tree[00:03:51]

And swattin' those Charlies with it from here to Kingdom Come[00:03:56]

When he led me out of danger[00:04:04]

I saw my camp and waved goodbye[00:04:05]

He just winked at me from the jungle and then was gone[00:04:08]

And when I got back to my HQ I told 'em about my night[00:04:13]

And the battle I'd spent with a big marine named Camouflage[00:04:18]

When I said his name a soldier gulped[00:04:22]

And a medic took my arm[00:04:25]

And led me to a green tent on the right[00:04:27]

He said[00:04:32]

You may be tellin' the truth boy[00:04:32]

But this here is Camouflage[00:04:34]

And he's been right here since he passed away last night[00:04:37]

In fact he's been here all week long[00:04:42]

But before he went he said[00:04:46]

Semper Fi[00:04:48]

And said his only wish[00:04:49]

Was to save a young marine caught in a barrage[00:04:51]

So here take his dog tag son[00:04:56]

I know he'd want you to have it now[00:04:58]

And we both said a prayer for a big marine named Camouflage[00:05:01]
