Sunday Morning Coming Down - Carl Emroy[00:00:00]
Written by:Kristofferson Kristoffer[00:00:00]
Well I woke up sunday morning[00:00:02]
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt[00:00:06]
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad[00:00:12]
So I had one more for dessert[00:00:16]
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes[00:00:21]
And found my cleanest dirty shirt[00:00:25]
Then I washed my face and combed my hair[00:00:34]
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day[00:00:37]
I'd smoked my mind the night before[00:00:43]
With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking[00:00:46]
But I lit my first and watched a small kid[00:00:55]
Playing with a can that he was kicking[00:00:59]
Then I walked across the street[00:01:08]
And caught the sunday smell of someone frying chicken[00:01:11]
And lord it took me back to something that I'd lost[00:01:20]
Somewhere somehow along the way[00:01:24]
On a sunday morning sidewalk[00:01:31]
I'm wishing lord that I was stoned[00:01:37]
'Cause there's something in a sunday[00:01:43]
That makes a body feel alone[00:01:49]
And there's nothing short a' dying[00:01:56]
That's half as lonesome as the sound[00:02:02]
Of the sleeping city sidewalk[00:02:09]
And sunday morning coming down[00:02:14]
In the park I saw a daddy[00:02:23]
With a laughing little girl that he was swinging[00:02:26]
And I stopped beside a sunday school[00:02:36]
And listened to the songs they were singing[00:02:39]
Then I headed down the street[00:02:48]
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing[00:02:51]
And it echoed through the canyon[00:03:01]
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday[00:03:03]
On a sunday morning sidewalk[00:03:11]
I'm wishing lord that I was stoned[00:03:17]
'Cause there's something in a sunday[00:03:23]
That makes a body feel alone[00:03:29]
And there's nothing short a' dying[00:03:36]
That's half as lonesome as the sound[00:03:42]
Of the sleeping city sidewalk[00:03:48]
And sunday morning coming down[00:03:55]
