I Once Wrote Some Poems (2005 Digital Remaster) - Peter Hammill[00:00:00]
I once wrote poems[00:00:15]
Stillness[00:00:18]
And silence[00:00:19]
Standing by rivers of[00:00:21]
Reflected light[00:00:24]
My thoughts were on being[00:00:26]
Loved and yet unloved too[00:00:28]
I surrendered to the warmth[00:00:32]
Of the night[00:00:34]
And now I feel like dying[00:00:39]
And if the water were here[00:00:43]
It would[00:00:46]
Hold me close[00:00:46]
I once wrote a poem[00:00:52]
While walking on gravestones[00:00:54]
As cobbles[00:00:57]
Rain and tear lashed down my face[00:00:58]
I then felt my whole world was fading[00:01:02]
As memories jostled and fell into place[00:01:07]
And now I feel like dying[00:01:14]
And the pain of old fires still burns[00:01:18]
I never wrote poems[00:01:25]
When I bit my knuckles[00:01:29]
And death started slipping into my mouth[00:01:31]
But that was really a long time ago[00:01:37]
And I'm not writing poems now[00:01:42]
And I don't feel quite like dying[00:01:49]
There is something deep inside me[00:01:52]
Softly crying[00:01:55]
And though I don't feel quite like dying[00:01:59]
There is something deep inside me softly[00:02:03]
