Lovely Leitrim - Larry Cunningham[00:00:00]
Last night I had a pleasant dream[00:00:03]
I woke up with a smile[00:00:07]
I dreamt that I was back again[00:00:11]
In dear old Erin's isle[00:00:15]
I thought I saw laugh Allen's banks[00:00:19]
In the Valleys' down below[00:00:23]
It was my lovely leitrim where[00:00:27]
The shannon water's flow[00:00:32]
I stood enchanted by the scene[00:00:36]
Of grandeur and of light[00:00:40]
I had it off for kerry town[00:00:44]
Before the dark of night[00:00:48]
I passed sheemore that fairy hill[00:00:52]
Where flowers wildly grow[00:00:56]
And I saw the grave of Finn McCool[00:01:00]
Where the shannon water's flow[00:01:04]
The next I saw was Finnea town[00:01:08]
With her ancient abbey walls[00:01:12]
The preaching of her holy monks[00:01:17]
Re echoes through her halls[00:01:21]
I stood with reverence on the spot[00:01:25]
Reluctant for to go[00:01:29]
From the town of saints and sages where[00:01:33]
The shannon water's flow[00:01:37]
I've travelled far to this great land[00:01:41]
From the east and to the west[00:01:45]
But of all the islands[00:01:49]
I have seen[00:01:52]
I love my own the best[00:01:54]
And if ever I return again[00:01:58]
There's one place I will go[00:02:02]
It will be to lovely leitrim where[00:02:06]
The shannon water's flow[00:02:10]
