We make our home in Victoria Grove[00:00:25]

This is merely our centre of operation[00:00:27]

For we are incurably given to rove[00:00:30]

We are very well known in Cornwall Gardens[00:00:37]

In Launceston place and in Kensington Square[00:00:40]

We have really a little more reputation[00:00:43]

Than a couple of cats can very well bear[00:00:46]

If the area window is found ajar[00:00:53]

And the basement looks like a field of war[00:00:56]

If a tile or two comes loose on the roof[00:00:59]

Which presently fails to be waterproof[00:01:02]

If the drawers are pulled out from the bedroom chest[00:01:04]

And you can't find one of your winter vests[00:01:07]

All after supper one of the girls[00:01:10]

Suddenly misses her Woolworth pearls[00:01:13]

The family will say it's that horrible cat[00:01:16]

It was Mungojerrie or Rumpelteazer[00:01:20]

And most of the time they leave it at that[00:01:28]

Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer have a very unusual gift of the gab[00:01:42]

We are highly efficient cat burglars as well[00:01:47]

And remarkably smart at a smash and grab[00:01:50]

We make our home in Victoria Grove[00:01:53]

We have no regular occupation[00:01:56]

We are plausible fellows who like to engage[00:01:58]

A friendly policeman in conversation[00:02:01]

When the family assembles for Sunday dinner[00:02:09]

With their minds made up that they won't get thinner[00:02:12]

On Argentine joint potatoes and greens[00:02:15]

And the cook will appear from behind the scenes[00:02:17]

And say in a voice that is broken with sorrow[00:02:21]

I'm afraid you must wait and have dinner tomorrow[00:02:23]

For the joint has gone from the oven like that[00:02:26]

The family will say it's that horrible cat[00:02:28]

It was Mungojerrie or Rumpelteazer[00:02:34]

And most of the time they leave it at that[00:02:41]

Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer have a wonderful way of working together[00:02:44]

And some of the time you would say it was luck[00:02:49]

And some of the time you would say it was weather[00:02:52]

We go through the house like a hurricane[00:02:55]

And no sober person could take his oath[00:02:57]

Was it Mungojerrie or Rumpelteazer[00:03:00]

Or could you have sworn that it mightn't be both[00:03:03]

And when you hear a dining room smash[00:03:06]

Or up from the pantry there comes a loud crash[00:03:09]

Or down from the library there comes a loud ping[00:03:12]

From a vase that was commonly said to be Ming[00:03:14]

The family will say now which was which cat[00:03:17]

It was Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer[00:03:22]

And there's nothing at all to be done about that[00:03:29]
