These words were composed by Spencer the Rover[00:00:01]
Who travelled Great Britain and most parts of Wales[00:00:08]
He had been so reduced which caused great confusion[00:00:14]
And that was the reason he went on the roam [00:00:21]
In Yorkshire near Rotherham he had been on his rambles[00:00:29]
Being weary of travelling he sat down to rest[00:00:36]
At the foot of yonder mountain there runs a clear fountain[00:00:43]
With bread and cold water he himself did refresh [00:00:49]
It tasted more sweeter than the gold he had wasted[00:00:58]
More sweeter than honey and gave more content[00:01:04]
But the thoughts of his babies lamenting their father[00:01:11]
Brought tears in the eyes witch man him lament [00:01:18]
The night fast approaching to the woods he resorted[00:01:26]
With woodbine and ivy his bed for to make[00:01:33]
There he dreamt about sighing lamenting and crying[00:01:40]
Go home to your family and rambling forsake [00:01:47]
On the fifth of November I've a reason to remember[00:01:55]
When first he arrived home to his family and wife[00:02:01]
They stood so surprised when first he arrived[00:02:08]
To be home such a stranger once more in their sight [00:02:15]
His children came around him[00:02:23]
With their prittle-prattling stories[00:02:26]
With their prittle-prattling stories to drive care away[00:02:30]
Now they are united like birds of one feather[00:02:37]
Like bees in one hive contented they'll be [00:02:43]
So now he is a-living in his cottage contented[00:02:52]
With woodbine and roses growing all around the door[00:02:58]
He's as happy as those that's got thousands of riches[00:03:05]
Contented he'll stay and go a rambling no more [00:03:12]
