The Month of May (Bob & Ron) - The Copper Family[00:00:00]
It was in the pleasant month[00:00:00]
Of May in the springtime of the year [00:00:03]
And down by yonder meadow[00:00:06]
There runs a river clear [00:00:09]
See how the little fishes[00:00:12]
How they do sport and play[00:00:15]
Causing many a lad and many a lass[00:00:17]
To go there a-making hay [00:00:21]
Then in comes the scytheman[00:00:24]
That meadow to mow down [00:00:27]
With his old leathered bottle[00:00:30]
And the ale that runs so brown [00:00:32]
There's many a stout and labouring man[00:00:36]
Comes here his skill to try [00:00:39]
He works he mows he sweats and blows[00:00:42]
And the grass cuts very dry[00:00:45]
Then in comes both Tom[00:00:49]
And Dick with their pitch-forks and their rakes[00:00:51]
And likewise black-eyed Susan[00:00:54]
The hay all for to make [00:00:57]
There's a sweet sweet sweet[00:01:00]
And a jug jug jug [00:01:01]
How the harmless birds did sing [00:01:03]
From the morning till the evening[00:01:06]
As we were a-haymaking [00:01:09]
It was just at one evening as[00:01:13]
The sun was a-going down [00:01:15]
We saw the jolly piper[00:01:18]
Come a-strolling through the town [00:01:20]
There he pulled out his tapering pipes[00:01:24]
And he made the valley ring [00:01:27]
So we all put down our rakes and forks[00:01:29]
And left off haymaking [00:01:32]
We called for a dance[00:01:36]
And we tripped it along [00:01:39]
We danced all round the haycocks till[00:01:42]
The rising of the sun [00:01:45]
When the sun did shine such a glorious light[00:01:47]
And the harmless birds did sing [00:01:50]
Each lad he took his lass in hand[00:01:53]
And went hack to his haymaking[00:01:56]
