Dingle Bay - Larry Cunningham[00:00:00]
Written by:Brian Warfield[00:00:00]
The sun is sinking o'er the westward[00:00:08]
The fleet are leaving Dingle shore[00:00:17]
I watch the men row in their curraghs[00:00:24]
As they mark the fishing grounds near Scellig Mor[00:00:32]
All through the night men toil until the daybreak[00:00:40]
While at home their wives and sweethearts kneel and pray[00:00:48]
That God might guard them and protect them[00:00:56]
And bring them safely back to Dingle Bay[00:01:04]
I see the green Isle of Valencia[00:01:12]
I mind the days around Lough Lein[00:01:20]
And gannets swinging with abandon[00:01:28]
As they watch the silver shore that comes their way[00:01:36]
I also see a ship on the horizon[00:01:44]
She is sailing to a country far away[00:01:52]
On board are exiles feeling lonely[00:02:00]
As they wave a fond farewell to Dingle Bay[00:02:08]
Now years have passed since I came homeward[00:02:25]
And time has left me old and grey[00:02:32]
I sit and muse about my childhood[00:02:40]
And the happy hours I spent near Dingle Bay[00:02:48]
And memory to[00:02:56]
I see the hen of granda[00:02:58]
And the Isle of Inishmore seems far away[00:03:04]
And I'm always dreaming of my childhood[00:03:12]
And the happy hours I spent near Dingle Bay[00:03:20]
And the happy hours I spent round Dingle Bay[00:03:28]
