Lovely Leitrim - Larry Cunningham[00:00:00]
Written by:Phil Fitzpatrick[00:00:00]
Last night I had a pleasant dream I woke up with a smile[00:00:04]
I dreamt that I was back again in dear old Erin's Isle[00:00:13]
I thought I saw Lough Allen's banks in the valleys' down below[00:00:22]
It was my lovely Leitrim where the Shannon water's flow[00:00:31]
I stood enchanted by the scene of grandeur and of light[00:00:40]
I had it off for Kerry town before the dark of night[00:00:49]
I passed Sheemore that fairy hill where flowers wildly grow[00:00:58]
And I passed the grave of Finn McCool where the Shannon water's flow[00:01:07]
The next I saw was Finnea Town with her ancient abbey walls[00:01:17]
The preaching of her holy monks re-echoes through her halls[00:01:25]
I stood with reverence on the spot reluctant for to go[00:01:34]
from the town of saints and sages where the Shannon water's flow[00:01:43]
I've travelled far from this great land from the east and to the west[00:01:53]
But of all the islands I have seen I love my own the best[00:02:01]
And if ever I return again there's one place I will go[00:02:10]
It will be my lovely Leitrim where the Shannon water's flow[00:02:19]
