Lovely Leitrim - Larry Cunningham[00:00:00]
Last night I had a pleasant dream[00:00:02]
I woke up with a smile[00:00:06]
I dreamt that I was back again[00:00:10]
In dear old Erin's isle[00:00:14]
I thought I saw laugh Allen's banks[00:00:18]
In the Valleys' down below[00:00:22]
It was my lovely leitrim where[00:00:26]
The shannon water's flow[00:00:30]
I stood enchanted by the scene[00:00:34]
Of grandeur and of light[00:00:39]
I had it off for kerry town[00:00:42]
Before the dark of night[00:00:47]
I passed sheemore that fairy hill[00:00:51]
Where flowers wildly grow[00:00:55]
And I saw the grave of Finn McCool[00:00:59]
Where the shannon water's flow[00:01:03]
The next I saw was Finnea town[00:01:07]
With her ancient abbey walls[00:01:11]
The preaching of her holy monks[00:01:15]
Re echoes through her halls[00:01:19]
I stood with reverence on the spot[00:01:24]
Reluctant for to go[00:01:28]
From the town of saints and sages where[00:01:32]
The shannon water's flow[00:01:36]
I've travelled far to this great land[00:01:40]
From the east and to the west[00:01:44]
But of all the islands[00:01:48]
I have seen[00:01:51]
I love my own the best[00:01:52]
And if ever I return again[00:01:56]
There's one place I will go[00:02:01]
It will be to lovely leitrim where[00:02:04]
The shannon water's flow[00:02:09]
